Remember the fountain, it’s spilling like words from my mouth
And you hear me but can’t figure out
What I mean by my metaphors, or when, why, or how
We arrived at this place so far outside of town
I know you see it, just like you did
Out under the stars back when we were just kids
The magic that moved us when we took a dip
In the fountain, the water put stars on your lips
And I felt you growing with every step that I’d take
Your limbs were like leaves in the water that shiver and shake
And I kissed you not knowing just how much was truly at stake
It was as if I’d been sleeping and only then was I awake
It is still calling us each day and night
Through all the love-making and every fight
There is more than we mortals can see with our eyes
But the fountain will clean us and bring us new life
And I felt you growing with every step that I’d take
Your limbs were like leaves in the water that shiver and shake
And I kissed you not knowing just how much was truly at stake
It was as if I’d been sleeping and only then was I awake
Remember the fountain, it’s spilling like words from my mouth
And you hear me but can’t figure out
What I mean by my metaphors, or when, why, or how
We arrived at this place so far outside of town
